DIRECTOR OF TAZEWELL MUSEUM BUNDY RETIRES
Southwest Virginians involved with the arts got a surprise when Nell Bundy, addressing a state budget hearing Thursday in Wytheville, introduced herself as the retired director of Tazewell's Historic Crab Orchard Museum.Bundy has been the museum's director since it opened in 1982 but is now stepping down. She said she will continue to work as a volunteer.
She started the museum as a volunteer, salvaging Native American artifacts from an archaeological dig across U.S. 460 from the museum's 25-acre site. Before grants and local contributions funded construction of the museum, she displayed the artifacts in a back room at the Tazewell County Public Library.
