DICKENSON COUNTY HIRES ADMINISTRATOR

Dickenson County hired its first county administrator this month.

She is Vicki Garrett, 37, chosen in a 4-1 vote by the county Board of Supervisors at its first meeting.

Garrett became interested in county matters when she joined a citizens group concerned with the county landfill overflowing. The supervisors plan a public hearing on landfill problems Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.

Dickenson, Virginia's youngest county, was also the only one without a county administrator until now. County activities had been coordinated by an administrative assistant, a position with less sweeping duties.
