Youngstown State ran its home winning streak to 21 games as its women's basketball team routed Virginia Tech 92-81 on Sunday.Tech (5-6) never was in the game, trailing 55-29 at halftime and 81-55 with 7:08 left in the game. The Hokies made it close by sinking five 3-pointers in the final minutes.
Dianne Rappach paced Youngstown (11-2) with 23 points, including six 3-pointers. Donna Wertz added 15 and Rachel Cowley with 14.
Freshman center Jenny Root had a game and career high of 26 points for the Hokies, making 11 of 15 shots from the field in 22 minutes. She also grabbed eight rebounds. Lisa Griffith added 16 and Christi Osborne 14.
