GLASS, JAMES W. James W. "Jimmy" Glass, age 81 of Roanoke, died Sunday at
his home. Mr. Glass was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church
where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for 15 years. He was a
member, past President and Paul Harris Fellow in the Rotary Club of North
Roanoke. Mr. Glass was former owner/operator of Air-Lee Cleaners, Inc. In 1974
the Roanoke Valley Chapter of the American Business Women named him Boss of
the Year. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Garrett Glass; three sons, James Lee
Glass, Kenneth W. Glass, both of Roanoke; Paul T. Glass, Fredrick, Md.; one
daughter, Shirley G. Croft, Abingdon; eleven grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; one brother, George W. Glass, Jr., Long Island, N.Y.;
three sisters, Gracie W. Smith, Lynchburg; Elizabeth Morgan Lonegan, South
Plainfield, N.J.; Anna Jane Chuisano, Massapequa, N.Y. Services will be 11:00
a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Emory N. Tarpley
and the Rev. Alpheus W. Potts officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge
Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and
7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel.
