RILLING, BETTY E. Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Bird Rilling of 538 Camway Drive,
Wilmington, died Monday, January 12, 1992, in New Hanover Regional Medical
Center. She was born in Roanoke, Va. on June 22, 1928, the daughter of the
late Andrew and Effie Sands Bird. Mrs. Rilling was a member of St. Marks
Catholic Church and very active in the church work, serving as a Eucharistic
Minister, member of the Clowning Ministry, the Women's Guild, and was active
in the Catholic Social Services. She was associated with the Christian Family
Living Center and the Prison Ministry. A loving wife for 27 years, she is
survived by her husband, Carl Thomas Rilling of the home; a son, Carl Thomas
Rilling, Jr., Wilmington, N.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Carla Annette Young,
Jamestown, N.C.; Mrs. Jennifer Louise Hewett, Wilmington; two grandchildren;
five sisters, Mrs. Pearl Payne, Mrs. Pauline Brown, Mrs. Frances Bauer, and
Mrs. Willie Link, all of Roanoke; and Mrs. Molly Brown, Chicago, Ill. Mass
will be said at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 1992, in St. Marks Catholic
Church by Rev. Matthew Hendrick. Prayer services will be conducted at 7:00
p.m. on Tuesday in Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, after which the
family will receive friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the
Families in Crisis, 4710 N. College Road, Wilmington, N.C. 28405, or to the
Marianist Family Ministry, Rt. 2, Box 259-F, Holly Ridge, N.C. 28445
