AUTO RACING IROC SERIES BEGINS FEB. 14
The 1992 International Race of Champions Series will be contested on ovals, beginning Feb. 14 at Daytona International Speedway.Rusty Wallace, who won an unprecedented three of four events last year, will be back to defend his title in the $700,000 all-star series matching star drivers from the NASCAR Winston Cup, CART Indy-car and international road racing circuits.
The rest of the 12-driver lineup for the 16th edition of IROC will be released over the next few weeks, according to Jay Signore, president of IROC.
Other events in the series this year include May 2 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, and Aug. 1 and Aug. 15 at Michigan International Speedway. The second Michigan race replaces the previous event on the road course at Watkins Glen, N.Y., which was dropped because of a conflict on the NASCAR and CART schedules.
