5 CHARGED WITH BURGLARY IN BEDFORD
Five people have been arrested in connection with a string of break-ins at Bedford County churches and community centers. Two anonymous tips to Bedford's Crime Line led to charges against two juveniles and three adults, Bedford County Sheriff Carl Wells said Monday.
Charged with eight counts of breaking and entering and eight counts of larceny each were: Crystal Dawn Miller, 21, of Route 7 in Bedford; Roy Lee Floyd Jr., 20, of Lindsay Street in Bedford; and Floyd's brother, Curtis Leroy Floyd, 18, also of Lindsay Street.
Wells declined to identify two 17-year-olds also charged in connection with the burglaries.
In the week leading up to Christmas, break-ins occurred at two community centers in Bellevue and Sedalia and at six county churches.
Some - but not all - of the audio, video and public address equipment taken in the nighttime burglaries was recovered when the arrests were made, Wells said.
The church break-ins occurred on different sides of the county and at churches of a variety of religious denominations.
