BLACKSBURG CHAMBER DELEGATES HEAR BUSH SPEECH IN WASHINGTON

Two representatives from the Greater Blacksburg Chamber of Commerce were in Washington Tuesday to hear President Bush speak to chamber leaders from across the nation about a nationwide partnership between businesses and the schools, called America 2000.

George Bell, a financial planner from Blacksburg, and the Rev. Don Clements, a Blacksburg minister, represented the Blacksburg chamber at the conference.

Bush told the leadership-conference audience at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that local business leadership is the key to improving the nation's schools.
