Glenn Brenner, whose wit and self-deprecating style made him one of Washington's most popular television personalities, has died.The 44-year-old sportscaster and former minor league baseball player suffered from a malignant, inoperable brain tumor.
Brenner, who had worked at WUSA-TV for 15 years, was stricken Nov. 4 with what doctors said was a cerebral hemorrhage hours after competing in the Marine Corps Marathon. Doctors discovered the inoperable tumor on Friday.
The Washington Redskins dedicated their NFC championship victory to Brenner. Coach Joe Gibbs gave the game ball to him on Sunday.
\ The International Amateur Athletic Federation, track's governning body will give a million dollars a year over the next three years to help develop the sport in east European countries.
Now that they can no longer rely on state aid, countries such as Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Romania and the former Soviet Union face a struggle to maintain their track and field organizations.
