WIND SMASHES DEBRIS INTO TRAILER; CHILD HURT
Wind-driven debris smashed into a mobile home early Tuesday, injuring a sleeping 3-year-old girl. The damage occurred about 7 a.m. at the home of Brad and Karen Herndon in Augusta County.
Winds estimated at up to 50 mph ripped the roof off a barn, sending sheets of metal and wooden beams flying through the air.
The material struck the back end of the mobile home where Nakesha Herndon was sleeping. The debris ripped away part of the bedroom and a beam pierced the trailer about 18 inches above the child's head.
Nakesha was taken to Kings' Daughters Hospital, where she was treated for a badly sprained foot, a bruised kidney and a cut on her back. - Associated Press
