MAN HOSPITALIZED AFTER BEATING, ROBBERY
A 64-year-old man was listed in critical condition at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after being beaten in the face and head in a robbery Monday night.Roanoke police said Reginald Meador of Trout Street Northwest was walking toward the entrance of Shenandoah Restaurant in the 2900 block of Shenandoah Avenue Northwest when he was accosted by a man.
Police said the suspect told Meador, "give me your money,"before he started beating him shortly after 9 p.m.
The man then took Meador's wallet and ran.
Meador was taken to the VA Hospital in Salem before being transferred to Roanoke Memorial, where he was being treated for a severe head injury.
No arrest had been made by Tuesday afternoon.
