HUFFMAN, BERTHA T.

Bertha Thomas Huffman, 91, died Tuesday evening at Bridgewater Home, where she had been a patient since May 9, 1991. On January 29, 1900, in Bridgewater, Va., she was born to the late Daniel Saylor and Barbara C. Miller Thomas. Mrs. Huffman was a member of the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren, and Ladies Auxiliary of Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She had worked as a secretary for the War Department during World War I and as a secretary for the Bridgewater Plow Corp. Mrs. Huffman has also served as Class Agent for Bridgewater College for her graduating class since the 1920's. On September 14, 1922, she was united in marriage to Nelson T. Huffman who survives. Surviving in addition to her husband is one daughter, Mrs. Wayne L. (Eleanor Christine) Myers of Timberville; one son, Nelson Thomas "Tom" (Evelyn) Huffman of Roanoke, Va.; one sister, Eva Catherine Flory of Timberville, Va.; five grandchildren, Cindy M. Grandle, Sharon M. Fink, Michael C. Huffman, Lorrie L. Huffman and Todd P. Huffman; three stepgrandchildren, Brian E. Kaczmarski, Lori A. Funk and Vanessa G. Kaczmarski; four great-grandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild also survive. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 1992, in the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren with the Revs. Robert Sherfy, Robert Alley and Rob Morris officiating. Graveside service will be private. The body now rests at the Johnson Funeral Home, Bridgewater, where the family will receive friends Thursday between the hours of 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. or other times at 113 East College Street, Bridgewater. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Bridgewater Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 285, Bridgewater, Va. 22812 or to the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren, 400 E. College St., Bridgewater, Va. 22812
