12 PISTOLS STOLEN FROM GUN COLLECTOR
A dozen high-powered pistols have been stolen from a Southeast Roanoke gun collector, police said Thursday.Larry E. Beckner, of the 700 block of Tazewell Avenue, reported the guns missing this week.
Police said a burglar forced open Beckner's front door. Among the pistols stolen were six .357 Magnums, three .44 Magnums, one 9mm, one .445 Super Magnum, one .22 Magnum.
Descriptions of the guns were read to patrol officers during lineup, but no special precautions were being taken.
"We know there are a lot of guns in the hands of the public," said Lt. W.J. Beason. "It is a large number to be taken in one burglary. It is not a lot to be added to the overall gun population."
