MITCHELL, SADIE M.

Sadie Martin Mitchell, age 70, of Route 1, passed away Friday, January 17, 1992 in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born April 13, 1921 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Emmett and Susie Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edmond Mitchell, and a daughter, Elsie M. Wood. She was a member of the Radford Baptist Church. She is survived by four sons, James E. Mitchell, Thomas Calvin Mitchell, both of Bedford; Roger D. Mitchell, Thomasville, N.C.; Danny Ray Mitchell, Hardy; three daughters, Susie M. Martin, Moneta; Nancy M. Kennedy, Easley, S.C.; Patsy M. Huddleston, Vinton; one brother, Jessie W. Martin, Lynchburg; two sisters, Gertie Carter, Moneta; Lizzie Noel, Vinton; twenty-one grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 19, 1992 at 3:00 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Tommy Floyd. Interment will be in the Radford Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
