IN SPORTS -FOOTBALL

Robert Majors, a 5-10, 175-pound senior from Roanoke, Va., was named to the NAIA Division I All-America Team for his play as a defensive back for the Concord, W.Va., football team.

Don James, who led the Washington Huskies to a 12-0 record and a share of the national championship, received the Bear Bryant Award as the college coach of the year, beating out Miami's Dennis Erickson, Georgia Tech's Bill Lewis and Florida's Steve Spurrier.

\ John Ralston, who coached at Stanford and Utah State, and Morgan State's Earl Banks were elected with 11 former All-Americans to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Joining the coaches were quarterback Craig Morton of California; running backs Ron Johnson of Michigan and Bob Odell of Penn; defensive lineman Jack Youngblood of Florida; offensive linemen Lou Michaels of Kentucky, Loyd Phillips of Arkansas and Jim Weatherall of Oklahoma; linebackers Jim Lynch of Notre Dame and Larry Morris of Georgia Tech; and receivers Art Weiner of North Carolina and Howard Twilley of Tulsa.

\ The World League of American Football, planning its second season of play next spring in North America and Europe, said it will conduct its 29-round draft on Feb. 4-5. The Ohio Glory, an expansion team which replaces the defunct Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks, has the first overall pick.
