THE PEOPLE COLUMN

Former Washington Mayor Marion Barry on Thursday sued federal prison officials for $5.5 million, alleging they damaged his name and political future by concluding a woman performed oral sex on him in prison.

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Richmond by Barry's lawyers, Beverly Crawford and Sa'ad El-Amin. It alleges the former mayor's civil rights and privacy were violated during the prison investigation.

Prison officials last week concluded Barry, 55, violated prison rules in the sex incident and they transferred him from a minimum-security facility at Petersburg to a more secure one in Loretto, Pa. Barry, serving a six-month sentence on a cocaine possession conviction, has denied the allegations.

Rocker David Crosby, who has a small role in the movie "Hook," continues his acting efforts with a guest appearance on Tuesday's episode of the ABC sitcom "Roseanne."

Crosby teams up with another musician, playing the husband of Bonnie Sheridan, who makes a guest appearance as a waitress.

Sheridan was with the 1960s group Delany & Bonnie & Friends, which also featured Eric Clapton.
