N.Y. MAN FACES JAIL FOR GUN SMUGGLING
A New York man was sentenced Thursday to 27 months in prison for smuggling handguns and assault-type weapons purchased in Danville to New York. At least four of those guns wound up in street crimes in New York, federal officials said.Terrell Davis pleaded guilty last August in U.S. District Court in Roanoke to two gun-smuggling charges. Evidence showed that Takanta Thompson, 25, of Danville, bought the guns for Davis, who picked them up in Danville or Richmond and took them to New York.
Thompson, who also pleaded guilty, was sentenced last month to three years probation.
Federal firearms agents discovered Thompson's purchases during continuing surveillance on gun sales in Danville.
