NAMES AND CHANGES
Olver names presidentDAVID W. GRIFFITHS has been named president of Olver Inc., an environmental engineering consulting firm based in Blacksburg. John W. Olver, the company's former president, will become chief executive officer.
Griffiths joined Olver in 1988 as director of the company's technical services division. In that position, he was responsible for overall direction of Olver's chemical and biological testing laboratories, remedial investigations and environmental permitting activities. Before joining Olver, he was director of research and technology in the Olin Water Services Division of Olin Corp. in Overland Park, Kan. Before that, he was manager of water research at Petrolite Corp. in St. Louis.
COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES
\ TIMOTHY J. HILL has been promoted from treasurer to vice president for business and finance at Hollins College. He will have administrative responsibility for all auxiliary services, including dining and building services, security, book shop, personnel services and the physical plant and grounds.
\ NORMA V. LUGAR has been appointed head of the marketing department of National Business College and director of publications and marketing for Education Systems Corp., the holding company for National. She will coordinate all promotional and advertising activities for the college as well as oversee the advertising efforts of other colleges. She and her staff also will produce the college's business magazine, Ideas at Work, which is distributed to corporate leaders, government officials and educators throughout the state; as well as handle outside advertising accounts through L&L Marketing Associates Inc.
Lugar was formerly creative director of Frank Longaker's senatorial campaign. Longaker hads the college.
\ BOBBIE JO PETERS has been appointed director of adult studies and continuing education and lecturer in education at Clinch Valley College of the University of Virginia in Wise. The position involves assessing course and program needs throughout Southwest Virginia, scheduling continuing education classes in about 20 towns and cities served by the college and identifying qualified instructional personnel. She was formerly elementary supervisor for Tazewell County Schools.

\ AL "CHIP" P. SAUFLEY II, has been named the vice president of credit for Roanoke Farm Credit. He previously worked as a senior credit/appraisal analyst for the Farm Credit Bank of Baltimore.

\ CARLOS HART, president of Hart Motor Co. Inc. of Salem has been elected president of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association.

\ VALERIE H. CROUSE has been named station manager of the Melrose Station of the U.S. Postal Service. An employee since 1970, she previously was supervisor of mails at the station.
\ LU JEAN BEDARD has been named director of program planning and development for Total Action Against Poverty. Prior to joining the agency, she was development and special projects coordinator at the YWCA of Roanoke Valley.

\ THOMAS W. ROE has been named a partner of Carter, Roe, Emick and Roe. The firm was previously known as Carter, Roe, Emick andMoore. He replaces Tommy L. Moore, who was elected Botetourt County Clerk of Circuit Court. Roe was previously with Lutins and Shapiro.
