OBIT VERNON, L.

VERNON, LOYD B. Mr. Loyd B. Vernon, 84 of Roanoke, died Friday night in a Salem nursing home. Mr. Vernon was a U. S. Army veteran and retired painter for L. R. Brown Contractor. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Ayers Carter Vernon; three sons, Homer Vernon, Jimmy Vernon and Douglas Vernon, all of North Carolina; two stepsons, Winston Carter and Burke Carter, both of Vinton; three stepdaughters, Carrie Farmakis, Enfield, Conn.; Lorraine Silvers, Roanoke; Sylvia Austin, Vinton; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 1992, at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton, with the Rev. Carter L. Sloan officiating. The family will receive friends at Lotz Vinton Chapel 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday.
