5 HOUSE CATS DIE IN ROANOKE BLAZE
Five cats were killed and one was saved during a blaze that destroyed a house at 2813 Short St. N.W., Saturday morning.Roanoke District 2 Fire Chief Garry R. Basham said the house, empty at the time except for the cats, was owned by Anita Hengeli of 2815 Courtland Road N.W.
The fire started while Hengeli was trying to thaw a fuel line to an outdoor oil tank with a blow torch, Basham said.
