FARMERS MAY GET CROP DISASTER AID
Farmers who lost part of their crops to drought, flood or other natural disasters during 1990-91 may be eligible for a federal disaster assistance program.The program provides cash payments for losses from such crops as wheat, feed grains, soybeans, sugar cane and tobacco.
To be eligible for the assistance, a farmer with crop insurance must have had losses greater than 35 percent.
Applications for assistance may be filed with a local Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office between Feb. 3 and March 13.
Farmers who have not received applications in the mail by Feb. 3 should contact their county ASCS office.
