CAMPBELL DOMINATES IN BLUE DEVILS' VICTORY

Grayson County outscored Galax 34-16 in the second and third quarters en route to a 51-39 Mountain Empire District boys' basketball victory Saturday.

Wilbert Campbell led the charge, scoring 22 points. He and Michael Brown scored 14 of the Blue Devils' 19 second-quarter points. Brown finished 11 points and Bonner Satterwhite added 12.

Campbell, a 6-foot-2 point guard, also grabbed 16 rebounds, had six assists and two steals as Grayson County improved to 8-3 overall and 7-1 in the district.

Galax (5-5, 5-3) was led by Dee Early with 14 points.

The Maroon Tide's top guns, Jeff Spells and Jason Ross, were held to a combined 13 points. - Staff report
