3 AREA HANDBALLERS PLAY FOR ATLANTA TITLES

Three area handball players advanced to today's championship play in the 18th Annual Peachtree Open handball tournament at the Atlanta Sporting Club.

J.W. Kirk III and Andy Hudick, from Roanoke, and Lexington's Dee Worrell each advanced with victories Saturday.

Kirk, playing in the C Singles division, defeated Hal Haymans (Savannah, Ga.) 31-26, then advanced to the finals with a win over Stan Chapman (Alabaster, Ala.) 31-10.

Worrell knocked off Jim Neimer (Atlanta) 31-24, then Bill Nye (Wilmington, N.C.) to move to the Masters Singles championship.

Hudick, a B Singles entry, defeated Bahr Meiring (Memphis, Tenn.) 21-4, 21-4; David Harrison (Atlanta) 18-21, 21-4, 11-7; and Dan Reynolds (Chattanooga, Tenn.) 21-16, 21-3.

All three players will play their final games this morning at 9. - Staff report
