WILDER LOSES TOUCH WITH CONSTITUENCY
WHEN I READ the budget proposal in the paper, I could not believe that anyone in his right mind would advocate a tax on sick, helpless, aged and handicapped citizens of this great state, as well as the unborn, the youth, the middle class and the wealthy.Gov. Wilder sure has been out of touch; 91.52 percent want health reforms, not a tax. If he succeeds in passing the gross-receipts tax on hospitals, nursing homes and pharmacies, he will lose my support and many others'.
I supported him for governor because I was under the impression he was an individual of high integrity with compassion, and in touch with his constituency. I certainly hate to be so completely mistaken. JAMES T. GRANT BEDFORD
