BUCHANAN NOT A BAD GOP CHOICE
PRESIDENT Bush is facing very crucial issues, such as democratization, colonization, isolationism and a stagnant economy. History shows that it is nothing new.He would have a better chance for re-election if he worked along with the Congress. To his disappointment, Congress has shown signs of independence and opposition to his authority and his unlimited prerogatives; therefore few of his bills were passed.
Republicans could change their crab-like quality of hanging on to Bush for re-election. Buchanan will not be such a bad choice. At the Republican forum for Virginia a speaker said, "There is no written document that says we should have a two-party system." This kind of thinking can be counterproductive. To have a balance of power, a two-party system is necessary to safeguard the interests of the people.
I think that the governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton, has a very good chance of winning the Democratic nomination. He seems to have a quickness of mind and readiness to form ideas, and he is a man of versatility. ZEMONE K. MCMANAWAY ROANOKE
