WOOD, GEORGE H., JR.

George H. Wood Jr., age 74, of Roanoke died Saturday evening in the V.A. Medical Center, Salem, Va. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a local home building contractor in the late 1950's and 1960's and served as president of the Roanoke Valley Home Builders Association. Surviving are his wife, Elma Y. Wood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela W. and David H. Conner, Debra W. and William Barlow; two grandchildren, Jennifer M. Conner and Michael D. Conner, all of Roanoke; one sister and brother-in-law, Caroline and Harold Young, Baltimore, Md.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's North Chapel 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Kenneth P. Lane officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Adult Day Care Center, or Trinity Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel.
