`BUGSY,' `BEAST' WIN GOLDEN GLOBES

Warren Beatty's gangland love story "Bugsy" and Walt Disney's animated fairy tale "Beauty and the Beast" took top movie honors at the Golden Globe Awards.

Though "Beauty and the Beast" took three awards, there were no runaway winners at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's 49th Golden Globes, held Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

The awards sometimes are an indication of Oscar front-runners.

Beatty, who appeared nervous accepting the award, awkwardly thanked director Barry Levinson and the rest of the cast and crew.

"You have to forgive me. I don't come out of the house anymore," he said.

Beatty also disclosed that his newborn daughter with actress Annette Bening is named Kathlyn Bening Beatty, after Beatty's mother.
