PENNINGTON, OAKLEY W.

Oakley W. Pennington, age 74, died Sunday, January 19, at Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg, following an extended illness. Mr. Pennington was born in Smyth County, Va. on November 4, 1917. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Sarah Pennington, and a sister, Ruth P. Bowles. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen Bruce Pennington; one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Buddy Shaver, Pembroke; two granddaughters, Kim Shaver Landes and husband, Randy S. Landes, Roanoke; Melissa Annette Shaver and fiance, Michael D. Williams, Pembroke; one great-grandson, Tyler Trent Landes, Roanoke; two sisters, Katherine P. Steffey, Coeburn; Evelyn P. Bowles, Bastian. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 21, at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Holiness Church, Pearisburg, with the Rev. E.H. Shaver officiating. Burial will be in the Bruce Cemetery, Poplar Hill. Visiting will be Monday at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
