OBIT CROOK, L.
CROOK, LESTER, JR. Mr. Lester Edward (Ed) Crook, Jr., age 49, departed this
life to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 1992. He died at the
University of Nebraska Medical Center. He had been hospitalized there for
nearly four months following two liver transplants complicated with a rare
infection. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester E. Crook, Sr. of
Boones Mill, his wife and closest friend, Carla Ericson Crook of Lindsburg,
Kan.; one sister, Sandra C. Thomas of Boones Mill; one brother, David Crook of
Wirtz; father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earland Olson of Kan.; two
nephews; one niece. After graduating from Franklin County High School, he
served in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Kansas. His life was
spent pursuing his love of the arts. He was a professional artist and
professor. He received his master of fine arts degree from the University of
Nebraska, Lincoln. He was near completion of his PHD in Education from Kansas
State University at the time of his death. Before and during his hospital stay
Ed's hope was that he and others would benefit through organ transplants and
felt very strongly that the most precious gift anyone can make in their
lifetime is the donation of their organs to help others. A memorial service
will be held Wednesday evening January 22, 1992 at 7:00 p.m. at the Arrington
Bussey Funeral Home. There will also be a small display of various works
created through and by Ed's love of art. Arrington Bussey Funeral Home in
Rocky Mount is in charge of arrangements.
