CRAWFORD, CLAUDE J., JR. Claude J. Crawford, Jr., age 44, of Rt. 2, Max
Meadows, Va., The Hudson Store Community, died Sunday at his residence. He was
an employee of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, a member of the Hillsville
Masonic Lodge #193, A.F. & A.M. and the Grover King Post #1115, Veterans of
Foreign Wars. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and the Desert Storm,
Persian Gulf Conflict and a member of the U.S. Army Reserve Transportation
Unit #424 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Claude J., Sr., and Bernice Stillwell Crawford. He is survived by his
wife, Janice S. Crawford; two daughters, Charlene Jean Crawford, Donalee Gail
Crawford, both of the home; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bobbie and Edward
J. Jones of Radford; Jean C. and Wayne Sparks of Sparta, N.C.; two brothers
and sister-in-law, Samuel C. and Kelly Crawford; Paul J. Crawford, all of
Barren Springs; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will
be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverview Church of God with the Rev.
Michael Collins officiating. Interment will be in the Crawford Family
Cemetery. Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 A.F. & A.M. will conduct graveside
rites. Military honors will be conducted by U.S. Army Reserve Transportation
Unit #424. The body will be taken to the Riverview Church of God Tuesday
evening where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Reese
Funeral Home in Austinville, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.
