E&H PLANS TO GIVE LECTURE ON DIVERSITY

A lecture on racial and ethnic diversity in this country will be given Jan. 29 at Emory & Henry College by Mel Page, a member of the history faculty at East Tennessee State University with a background in African history and the concerns of black Americans.

He contends that the United States is marked by diversity but sometimes has difficulty finding ways for minority groups to feel included without sacrificing the identities making them unique. He will suggest solutions to this problem at his 8 p.m. lecture in Memorial Chapel, which is open to the public at no charge.

Before coming to East Tennessee, Page taught at Murray State University in Kentucky and at universities in Africa as a Fulbright Lecturer and later as a visiting professor. - Southwest bureau
