ECHOLS, NELLIE S. Mrs. Nellie Sue Stebar Echols, age 100, went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 20, 1992. The daughter of Robert Peck and India Elizabeth Lugar Stebar, she was born on April 1, 1891, and spent her entire life in the Level Green area of Craig County. The widow of Arthur Clarence Echols, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. and Mary Echols, Newport; daughter, Mildred Chapman, Buchanan; grandchildren, Jane Johnston, New Castle; Joe Ann Duncan and Patsy Snider, both of Newport; Arthur Marvin Chapman, Buchanan; also great-grandchildren, Jeff and Joe Johnston, Michael and Dale Duncan, Susan Snider, Robert and Bruce Chapman; and a very precious great-great-granddaughter, Kristen Elizabeth Duncan. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Level Green Christian Church, Newport, where she was the oldest member. The funeral will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church with Minister Jack Ford officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Echols home anytime. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Those wishing to remember "Mamaw" may make a contribution to the Level Green Building Fund or a charity of their choice.
