FORAGE CONFERENCE JAN. 30 AT NRCC
The 1992 Southwest Virginia Forage Conference will be Jan. 30, 9:15 a.m.-3 p.m., at New River Community College."Making Money Marketing Forages" is the theme, with these topics to be discussed include: "Where Can Production Costs Be Cut?" "Harvesting Forage: Machines vs. Animals," "Importance of Forage Management to the Overall Operation," "Low-Risk vs. High-Risk Borrowing," "Stretching Your Fertilizer Dollar" and "Stream-Bank Management: Myths and Facts."
The Virginia Forage and Grasslands Council recognizes outstanding forage management practices. Pulaski County farmers Frank and Bob Brown of Buena Vista Dairy will be awarded the Outstanding Forage Producer Award.
Registration is $5 for non-VFGC members.
Also, the Montgomery County Extension Service is sponsoring a meeting Feb. 6, 7 p.m., on commercial vegetable production at the Christiansburg branch library.
Speakers include Charlie O'Dell, extension vegetable specialist; Danny Neel, regional market development manager; and Dennis Dove, local vegetable producer.
