WALTER `BUD' OTEY, BUSINESSMAN, DIES
Walter M. "Bud" Otey Jr., retired chief executive officer of Webster Brick Co. in Botetourt County, died Sunday at the age of 71.
In addition to his work with Webster Brick, Otey also served on the Board of Directors of Mountain Trust Bank. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School and Virginia Tech, where he earned a degree in ceramic engineering in 1947.
Otey was active in professional associations locally and nationally, and served as director at various times of the Roanoke Rotary Club, Roanoke Valley Industries and Junior Achievement of the Roanoke Valley. He also was the head of Tech's alumni association in Roanoke in the 1950s.
