ARRESTED TEEN LEARNS TALK IS NOT CHEAP
A 17-year-old learned Saturday that he had the right to remain silent, but he had better not mumble.Roanoke police first spotted the youth standing near a trash pit at the Hurt Park housing complex about 1:40 a.m.
When they talked to him they noticed his speech was slurred.
Police officers asked the teen-ager why he was talking funny. He told them he had a toothache and opened up his mouth.
That was when officers spotted a glass vial with eight rocks of crack cocaine stuffed inside.
Police charged him with possessing crack cocaine with intent to distribute. He could not be reached for comment.
