PRO-CHOICE DOESN'T MEAN PRO-ABORTION
I WOULD like to respond to Patricia Ferris' letter of Jan. 13 regarding the labeling of anti-abortion/pro-choice interest groups. Does she understand that the bias she is condemning can be turned around to read pro-choice/ anti-choice?There is a fundamental misconception among many anti-abortion groups that pro-choice means pro-abortion. This is simply not the case.
Abortion is a choice that no woman likes to make. She must live with it for the rest of her life. But if our right to choose abortion is taken away, all females, once born, are at risk of losing other rights as well. Among these are the right to vote, hold public office, to have equal employment opportunities and protection against sexual harassment, spousal abuse and rape.
I am a woman by chance and a mother by choice. It is my fervent desire that my daughter will also be able to make her own choices. SUSAN E. KING CHRISTIANSBURG
