FEMINIST SCHOLAR FROM ARGENTINA TO LECTURE FRIDAY AT VA. TECH
Feminist scholar Nora Feminia of Buenos Aires, Argentina, will lecture on Friday at Virginia Tech as part of the 1991-92 lecture series on women's issues in urban affairs and planning.Feminia will discuss "Women's Identity in Argentina: From Dictatorship and Repression to the Free Market," a free presentation that will begin at 3:30 p.m. in room G of the Donaldson Brown Center.
Feminia is the author of several works on the mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, including the recently published book "I Am My Own Woman: The Path of Women Towards Their Own Identity."
She also has served as a consultant on women and on assertiveness training for various Argentine labor unions.
A family counselor for 20 years, Feminia holds a master's degree in social sciences from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences in Buenos Aires and is working on a doctorate in conflict resolution at Syracuse University.
