GILES STARTS NEW ROCK RADIO STATION
Monarch Communications has its new radio station, WZFM-FM (101.3), in Giles County up and running.
The station reaches listeners in the New River Valley and westward toward southern West Virginia. The music format is a classic rock and contemporary light rock mix, said station manager Rebecca Lolli.
WNRV-AM (990), which is also owned by Monarch Communications, will continue operations in Giles County.
The 30-year-old station, which was purchased by Monarch in 1990, recently underwent a format change and is now a country station.
Both WNRV and WZFM are locally owned and operated by Lolli and Faye Nicholson, partners in Monarch Communications.
