FALSE CURES FOR `NEGATIVE INFLUENCES'
UPON READING [Joel Achenbach's column] Dec. 5, "There are just more negative influences in life," I could not help but be overwhelmed with a tremendous sense of thanksgiving that I am not the product of evolution according to Darwin, but a unique creation of God almighty. No wonder our young people today have turned to drugs, alcohol, illicit sex and suicide as cures for the "negative influences." In the teaching of evolution, the positive realities of faith and hope are totally eliminated.
The battle to keep the concept of creationism out of school is actually quite futile, although it does assist in wreaking havoc on the morals and convictions of this once-great nation. No matter what man may say, it does not change the fact that we are created by God. Truth is truth. MARY E. THOMPSON FINCASTLE
