JOHNSON, WILLIAM E.

William Earl Johnson, age 84, died Wednesday in a Rich Creek nursing home. He was born April 28, 1907, in Lee County, Va., the son of the late Robert W. and Rosella Olanger Johnson. He was a member of the Rich Creek First Church of God and the Angels Rest Lodge No. 153 I.O.O.F. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Saunders Johnson; six sons, James I. Johnson, Charles R. Johnson, Donald R. Johnson, Earl Gene Johnson, Jerry R. Johnson and W.H. (Butch) Johnson, all of Pearisburg; five daughters, Mrs. Margaret (Cricket) Lucas, Mrs. Ada Lee French, and Mrs. Earthel (Sue) Middleton, all of Pearisburg; Mrs. Audrey Martin, Christiansburg; Mrs. Mary Lee Swain, Bedford; five brothers, Cascal Johnson and Milford Johnson, both of Appalachia; Aaron Johnson, Christiansburg; Robert Johnson and Elmo Johnson, both of Manassas; three sisters, Mrs. Stella Rose, Appalachia; Mrs. Della Fletcher, Manassas; Mrs. Janice Rhode, Lincoln, Neb.; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Rich Creek First Church of God with the Rev. Ralph Hubble officiating. Entombment will be in Birchlawn Abbey with Angels Rest Lodge No. 153 I.O.O.F. conducting rites. Visiting will be Thursday at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
