Roanoke Catholic rallied from an 11-point second-half deficit to defeat North Cross 72-71 in double overtime Wednesday in a Virginia Independent Conference boys' basketball game.With eight seconds left in regulation, Jason Griemel hit two free throws to pull the Celtics even at 56. In the first overtime a stickback by Charles Cunningham with :02 left tied the score at 63 and kept Catholic alive.
Finally, with :04 left in the game, Scott Sartini canned a 12-foot jumper from the side to lift the Celtics (9-4, 5-2) to victory. North Cross fell to 6-9, 3-4. - Staff report
