FLOYD AND PATRICK RECEIVE GRANT FOR ROCKY KNOB PROJECT
Floyd and Patrick counties have been awarded a grant for the proposed Rocky Knob tourist development, Floyd County Board of Supervisors Chairman Howard Dickerson announced Tuesday.The counties received $20,000 from the $350,000 pool of money available from the state's Center on Rural Development. It was one of 19 projects which received funding.
The money can be used as part of the local match for the federal Challenge Grant the counties are seeking to fund the feasibility study for the project, said Floyd County Administrator Randy Arno.
The counties have proposed operating a history-based tourist attraction which would include a hotel, a restaurant, a convention center, a theater, a museum and a crafts exhibit a Rocky Knob adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
