WATKINS, LOUISE M.

Louise Mahaney Watkins, age 88, died Wednesday, January 22, 1992, at Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem. She was a graduate of Radford College and later attended Peabody College. Mrs. Watkins had been a resident of Blacksburg since 1929, where she operated Louise's Dress Shop for many years. She was also a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. G. Watkins. Surviving are one brother, Carey M. Mahaney, San Francisco, California; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn G. Mahaney, Blacksburg; Dorothy B. Mahaney, Kenbridge; Lois Mahaney, San Lorenzo, California; special friends, Mary Kent and Greer Elliott, Blacksburg; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, in Westview Cemetery. The Rev. Herbert G. Myers will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, N. E., Blacksburg, Va. 24060 or Christ Episcopal Church, 120 Church and Jackson Streets, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
