2 MEN ARRESTED; DRUGS, CAR SEIZED

State police arrested two men Wednesday night and seized more than $7,500 worth of cocaine and marijuana and a car allegedly used to transport the drugs.

David H. Marshall, 37, of Roanoke, and Leon W. Joyce, 52, of Radford, were charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, which is a felony, and possession of marijuana. Marshall also was charged with driving under the influence of a narcotic and driving with a suspended lisence.

Police stopped Marshall for weaving on southbound Interstate 81 near Exit 188 at 9 p.m., Trooper R.P. Chappell Jr. said. With the aid of dogs from the Rockbridge Sheriff's Department, they discovered what was thought to be about 2 ounces of powdered cocaine, 12 vials of crack cocaine and several other bags of crack and marijuana.

The two men were being held in Rockbridge County Jail without bond until a preliminary hearing today, Chappell said. If convicted, each would face a sentence of between five and 40 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.
