PULASKI OFFICIAL WORE SWEET SMELL TO EXCESS
Jim Neighbors never knew how much his cologne shook up Pulaski Town Council. At least one member, Alma Holston, admitted moving her regular seating place to the opposite side because she was allergic to it.
The cologne even figured in a resolution honoring Neighbors for his service on council although, when Mayor Gary Hancock came to that part Tuesday night, he said, "Maybe I better not read this."
The "abundant cologne" was lumped in with Neighbors' unique sense of humor and good will as being among the qualities for which he was known.
Neighbors served on council and was vice mayor from 1984 until his resignation last year when he moved outside town.
During his tenure, he was chairman at various times of the Recreation, Finance, Public Operations and Personnel committees.
Neighbors was commended for his leadership, wisdom, honesty, dedication and "neighborliness."
