BASHAM, PEGGY O.

Peggy O'Neill Basham, age 39, died Thursday, January 23, 1992, at her home in Roanoke, Va., after battling cancer for two years. Peggy was born June 2, 1952, in Ocala, Fla. She was a 1973 graduate of Randolph Macon Women's College. She was active in many committee organizations including the Cave Spring Elementary School PTA, Girl Scouts, Castle Rock Swim Team and Roanoke Valley Aquatic Association. Peggy was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Peggy is survived by her husband, Douglas W. Basham; two daughters, Laura and Catherine; parents, William and Betty O'Neill of Williston, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law,, Deborah and Col. Charles Croom, USAF in Germany; aunt, Iola Arnold of Lakeland, Fla.; in-laws, Warren and Phyllis Basham of Roanoke; and brother-in-law, Kim and Shelly Basham of Laramie, Wy. A memorial service will be conducted at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Roanoke on Sunday, January 26, 1992, at 2:30 p.m. officiated by the Rev. James Riach. Friends will be received following the service in the church fellowship hall. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Cave Spring Elementary PTA (5404 Spring Lawn Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24018) for the purpose of establishing a library and education memorial fund, or the American Cancer Society.
