EX-HOLLINS PRESIDENT JOHN EVERETT DIES

John Rutherford Everett Jr., president of Hollins College from 1950 to 1960, died Tuesday in New York.

Everett, Hollins' fourth president, was 73. He died of pancreatic cancer.

A Portland, Ore., native, Everett was 31 when Hollins appointed him president.

Everett left Hollins to become the first chancellor of the City University of New York. He served 20 years as president of the New School for Social Research.
