PROJECT STEP GIVES CHILDREN A GOOD START

Thank you, Project Step.

As a concerned citizen, a teacher of children 6 weeks to 6 1/2 years old, a parent and grandmother, I would like to say "thank you" to Project Step and all of the staff. Each day they do great work with children who have developmental problems and are such a big help to the parents.

We wish there were no need for this program, but because there is, we in the New River Valley can be so thankful that the help is there. Because of this program, these children have the chance for a better start in life than they would have had in time past.

I served on the New River Valley Community Services Board for almost six years and saw many steps forward taken in all of their programs. I felt good (and still feel good) about all the help the citizens of the New River Valley receive each day.

One of the highlights during my time on the board was watching a little girl and her mom during a Project Step session. Seeing that beautiful little girl with her dark curls, in her purple dress, take her first steps was a moment no words can describe.

I would also like to thank the Roanoke Times & World-News for the very good article about Project Step in the New River Current on Sunday, Jan. 12.\ Marjorie Akers\ Christiansburg
