BECKER LIFTS ROANOKE PAST RANDOLPH-MACON
Former Christiansburg player Rick Becker had team highs of 20 points and seven rebounds as Roanoke beat Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Randolph-Macon 80-57 on Saturday.Roanoke (8-6 overall, 5-4 ODAC) built a 36-29 halftime lead on the strength of superior rebounding. The Maroons out-rebounded Randolph-Macon 23-13 in the first half, making many second shots.
Randolph-Macon (6-9, 2-6) was unable to hit from the field in the second half, shooting only 34 percent.
Jason Grubb led Randolph-Macon with 18 points, and Dan Prescott had 10.
Hillary Scott had 16 points and Michael Thornton 12 for Roanoke, which shot better than 50 percent (34-for-67) from the field and forced 19 turnovers.
Point guard Dustin Fonder chipped in with six assists. \
