TECH RUNNER OUTDISTANCES TRACK PACK
Virginia Tech junior Heidi Allen won the 5,000-meter run Saturday at the U.S. Air Invitational track meet on the campus of East Tennessee State University.Allen, the first Tech athlete to ever win an event at this meet, covered the course in 16 minutes, 48 seconds.
Tech's Phil Kinslow ran a 4:13.3 mile and finished fifth in his heat. Tom Lowkowitz placed 11th in his heat in the 3,000 in a time of 8:32.
The meet, which featured more than 2,000 athletes from all over the country, concluded Saturday. - Staff report
